Do you know that moment when you realized what makes you tick? Well, that moment happened to me when I was six years old. I knew I wanted to help people, and I was fascinated by the science of the human body. Becoming a physician was my next step. During those years, I witnessed health, sickness, death, and births. I worked with people from all walks of life. It was those encounters that strengthened my values, my respect for every human life, and fostered a relationship-centered care approach.
Finding the right balance between objective and subjective decision making can be challenging. Our previous experiences shape our reality and our beliefs. I can attest to that! I have relocated countries with my husband several times, which forced me to halt my career. I struggled to find new ways of being of service. At the same time, it became an opportunity to develop cultural empathy and discover new aspects of myself that made me pursue a career in coaching.
Trying to improve ourselves is not an easy task. It brings up all kinds of fears and uncertainties, but we cannot deny that it also helps us develop a stronger sense of self and awareness. Understanding that growth looks different for everyone is an important piece.
